In 2009, Learning Connections initiated an exploration into the effectiveness of the Neverwinter Nights game as a means of engaging learners with literacies. Neverwinter Nights had been adapted by West Nottinghamshire College Altered Learning to include literacy and numeracy tasks and is mapped to the English Key Skills curriculum. Reports on the Altered Learning website indicated that it had been responsible for boosting the success rate in achieving Key Skills. Early discussion with SQA suggested that it may also be suitable in relation to Core Skills.
This evaluation reports on the findings of projects in Scotland who piloted the game with their learners.
